An ending to a glourious journey
Mexico seemed to always sit in fear of the United States' expansion and therefore, felt the need to force their authority over the Texas colonies. Because of this new assertive authority, three major developments contributed to the growing alienation of the colonists by the Central Government and the Mexican rebellion only grew. This eventually led to the Mexican Law of April 6, 1830, prohibiting any more immigrants from North America into Texas. Stephen F. Austin faced many hardships in his life. He faced illness, vilification, imprisonment and one financial setback after another. Despite his shortcomings he played a central role in the events that led
to the Texas revolution and establishing the Texas Republic. Austin became an “Empresario” with his determination to succeed despite the personal costs and he was able to bring the “Original Old Three Hundred” to Texas. Because of this, he planted the seeds of growth to a strong nation, which still stands tall today. He faced his destiny head on, defeated all odds, and helped make Texas what it is today, with his original three hundred settlers.
